[ There's a gentle sort of guilt that tugs at him from the inside when he catches Kyrie's reaction to his own and he looks down to his burger as blue fingers gently scrape against the wrapper. That's just like Kyrie... to want him to be happy and simply not caring for the so-called consequences that might come from it... isn't that what she's already doing with being with him? A demon? She could deserve better here, couldn't she? Not have to risk being around someone- something like him and yet... he needs her so much. ]

I know. But here... this isn't like Fortuna. We don't have to be around that sort of stuff... you don't have to be.

[ He looks over to Kyrie then, coming to move closer to her and, with a hand gently lifting to cradle the side of her face, he presses his forehead against hers. ]

If anything happened to you...

[ He can still remember the pain he felt when he reached for her could barely touch her, the ache that tore through him and leveled the ground around him in his anger. ]

[ Kyrie seemed started when she felt his hand on her face, but when she realized what was happening she didn't fight the gesture. That look in his eyes, that sadness, the worry, all of it was eating at her. She knew that feeling well, wanting someone to be safe. She already lost her family, if she were to lose Nero too?... But this must be how he feels too. Worrying about her safety, not wanting her to be harmed in any way.

She wouldn't bring it up, not again. If such a thought made Nero feel this bad, she wouldn't even humor the idea a second more. Setting the food down in her lap, she moved to cup the side of his face in return. ]

I-I'm sorry, Nero. I didn't mean... I didn't want to worry you.

[ Kyrie is too good... too good for him or to be "running with demons" as it were. Yet, to be without her in his life... it's nothing that Nero can see himself coming to accept. The amount of things and happiness that she deserves... if he could somehow, in his own way, give them to her and ensure her safety... then he would. He will. ]

Hey.

[ He says that softly, setting his burger down on the blanket for a moment so that his other hand can come up to rest against the side of her neck. ]

We're still tryna figure this all out, right?

[ This... being together thing... Kyrie being with a demon. ]

I mean... there's bound to be some bumps in the road along the way. Just... didn't expect to hit a big one so soon.

[ The sound of soft laughter can be heard under his breath before he lets his gaze drop for a moment. ]

It's not so much that I'm worried about you not being able to handle things... it's the other people living in this city that I'm not so sure about.

[ She continued looking at him, looking into those eyes of his and melting further under his soft gaze. It wasn't until she heard that soft laughter of his that she realized that nero wasn't actually mad at her and she was able to calm down a little. her body felt more at ease as she continued listening to him.

If this is the worst thing they'd discuss in their life, she was pretty sure they could handle anything. ]

I... understand. There are so many different people here, with different abilities and different passions... neither of us know exactly how these people react to newcomers like us.

[ She didn't want to add, but she didn't really know much about self defense either. If Nero wasn't around, what if something... or someone came for her? ]

[ Yeah, maybe don't say that to him? Although, to be fair, it's something that he's well aware of himself, since he knows he can't constantly be around Kyrie to ensure her safety... and while this isn't Fortuna, that isn't to say that there aren't those here who would enjoy causing trouble or doing as they please.

Coming to pull back some, Nero falls silent for a moment and allows himself to gaze off to the side as he quietly mulls over something; it's easy to see he is with the way he chews over his bottom lip. ]

Would you... be against learning how to... I don't know, maybe defend yourself?

[ Kyrie looked at him with a bit of surprise on her face. She didn't actually think... this would be something Nero would want her to do? She knows Nero worries about her a lot, and with them in this strange new place there could be even more dangers to worry about than they had in Fortuna, but, somehow, she never thought she'd hear these kind of words coming out of Nero. Maybe it was because Credo assured him it wouldn't be necessary before or something. ]

Defend myself? I-I no... I mean No I wouldn't be against learning..!

[ Honestly, he would rather Kyrie never have to know how to do such a thing. But... in the case of his being away from her and something were to ever happen... maybe knowing a thing or two might help? Or would it only ease his own mind, if even a little? Tough to say. But he comes to look back to Kyrie then, teeth sinking into his bottom lip for a moment. ]

I don't mean anything fancy. [ Not like what he can do. ] But just something basic, even if it's to just get away.

[ He sighs, however, blue fingers brushing through strands of white hair. ]

I don't know. Maybe it's a dumb idea. It's not like I want you to have to deal with that sort of stuff.

[ The stuff that he does. ]

[ Kyrie shifts just a little so she could move her hand to cover Nero's. That soft smile on her face once more. ]

I don't.... think it's a dumb idea, Nero. I'm not really sure... how to go about learning but...

[ She shifted her gaze to her lap, as her fingers lightly brush against his hand a few times. ]

And while I know neither of us want to think about it.... if there happens to be a day... where someone decided to act... less than favorable and you weren't around... if I were to learn some defense I could get away. Right...?

[ That's another thing: what would be the best sort of method for her to learn? He's not so sure he should be the one to teach her anything if only because there's a good chance he might go ridiculously easy on her and second guess himself with all of this and the possibility that this is a bad idea and what was he thinking with doing this?

Although, someone does come to mind (no, not Dante) and he mulls over that option for a moment before he looks to their hands. ]

Yeah. I might know someone who could help you out there.

[ He's going to have to yank his hand away if he wants it back, because she still gently holds it, and brushes her fingers along it, as if she was stuck in some kind of thought. When she hears him speak up again, she turned her head up to look at him once more. ]

You do...?

[ Lucky for Kyrie, he has no intention of yanking that hand back, even with there being food here. ]

Yeah. Her name's Jill, she seems pretty cool to me. Knows her stuff, that's for sure.

[ Her eyes seem to light up when she hears Nero talking about this Jill person. Kyrie hadn't met her yet herself, no, but hearing Nero talk about another person like that with a certain fondness only Nero could have, it makes her happy. Perhaps it was just her worrying over nothing, but she thought maybe Nero would try to keep to himself, but knowing he thinks a few others are cool here, that fills Kyrie with so much joy. ]

If she has your approval, then I know I can trust her.

[ Just don't look at her face, Nero. Her eyes are sparkling. ]

[ Well, Kyrie, to be fair... he still prefers to keep to himself. Although, with the few he does manage to click with, he's never one to give them the cold shoulder. However, he smiles a little at Kyrie's words and nods, eyes looking down to the way she still holds his hand. ]

Great. I'll get in touch with her then and see what she says.

[ Hopefully he won't have to pay for this? Tbd... ]

Maybe if she agrees I'll even be able to show you a thing or two.

[She teases a little, giving his hand a tiny squeeze. She would like to show Nero she could defend herself though, so he wouldn't have to worry so much. And a Nero that is a little less worried is a happy Nero, right?

To prove her determination to Nero already, she doesn't even hide the fact that she's reaching over toward his fries to steal one.]

[ Now wouldn't that be something? He even chuckles a little at the thought... and the fact that she's trying to steal his fries so out in the open like this. ]

Well, I can't say I'd be against you showing me a thing or two.

[ And, perhaps to counter her fry stealing attack, he leans in quickly to steal a kiss from her lips. ]

[ That right there she didn't see coming and she felt a warmth growing in her face. Nero was so full of surprises especially when it came to matters of the heart. Her cheeks were looking a bit rosy and a shy smile formed on her lips. Nero wins this round, but the "war" isn't over yet. Not by a long shot. ]

Y-Yes um I will...

[ She trails off a little. Okay, so maybe he won the war too. ]

[ Well that certainly gets Nero to smile a little more as he pulls back and bows his head for a moment, fingers scratching at his nose quickly. ]

Should probably enjoy the food while it's still warm, right?

[ A beat, chewing on his bottom lip for a second. ]

Got the rest of the night for showing me a thing or two.

[ He might be teasing there, don't worry, Kyrie. ]

[ She wanted to pout and maybe even pull a "I let you get the upperhand" but really she couldn't even stop herself from smiling. He was so cheeky sometimes, but that's just another part about Nero she absolutely adored. She nodded her head a little and took a small bite from her burger. It wasn't actually that bad for fast food, she had to say.

She glanced at Nero and kept thinking to herself, she wwould just have to try and sneak an attack right back at him when he least expected it. Now that she knew he didn't seem to mind being a little more intimate she wanted to be more forward herself.

Well maybe a little bit more. ]

When you least expect it.

[ If it were anyone else that might come off as a little more threatening, but since it was Kyrie, well.... ]

[ The thought of Kyrie being threatening makes him smile to himself. ]

Guess that means I'll have keep to my eyes peeled for it, right?

[ With a grin to her, he leans back a little as he enjoys his own burger, shoulder touching hers as he looks out at their view. Honestly? This is nice, even if they're in a different world. At least they have each other. ]
